My name is Thomas as known as Wohl Photography. I'm a french photographer based in Berlin, Germany. My path into the visual arts began with graphic design about 15 years ago, making flyers and posters mostly for music events. At the time, the only photos I were making were in order to use my own textures and objects instead of stock photos. My whole graphical ideas were based on a digital way to use actual photos. I also worked on 3D modeling and vectors and never thought about photography as a whole way to express myself. In 2017, I had for the first time my hands on a DSLR camera as i took pictures of the children I worked with for a celebration. I had really good feedbacks and began to think about buying a proper camera. In my free time, I worked on architecture and symmetrical photography without to think about anything else. Later, I had the opportunity to make a workshop about nude photography and thought; actually why not, it's not my thing at all but there is always something to learn everywhere. I came through that in contact with models and began to shoot with models. It was interesting but I wanted to do more, to involve the viewer in my pictures, to create storytelling, to create a whole atmosphere and the nude side was not really relevant for my goals. At this point, I asked a good friend of mine who is a professional dancer if she would like to shoot with me. And that was the starting point of everything I do now. I met other dancers and developed more artistic and defined concepts.
I work a lot on the picture composition, sometimes doing everything in camera and sometimes mixing with digital art, I pay attention to the movement, throwing things in the air, I like to freeze time in action, to make the viewer feel involved in a crazy situation or to simply create a graphical or emotional effect. Nowadays there is a whole Team behind my projects (lighting, accessories, assistents, lost place experts and we try to realize always more cinematic pictures.
